Charity opens its doors to more low income families

Cambridge Re-Use formally Cambridge SOFA is open to people on low income to buy low cost good quality furniture and household items donated by the general public.  The charity has increased eligibility to be a customer in response to the recent Joseph Rowntree Report on Poverty.

Any individual earning up to £18,000 or a couple earning up to £23,000 are now eligible to be a customer.  “It is well publicised that people on benefits can shop with us but there are many people and families struggling on a low wage that don’t realise they are able to shop with us.  We offer a welcoming, friendly environment whether it’s to look around or to shop; there is a wide range of good quality furniture, household items, books, crockery, linen and bric a brac, with fantastic bargains.”

Here’s what some of the customers say “A lifeline for people on limited budget”, “The best priced charity store I have seen”, “I always find the staff helpful and willing to listen to any questions”.

Cambridge Re-Use is open Monday to Friday 10am - 4.30pm.  To register as a customer you will need to bring proof of your total household income, and if you are working it can be wage slips or working tax credit.  If you are unsure what to bring you can ring the charity on 01223  576 535 or alternatively pop in:
